Renault Samsung Motors said Wednesday it has been attracting customers for its face-lifted SM6 sedan as the recently launched model's new gasoline turbo engine offers a dynamic driving experience.

"In the past, engine displacement mostly mattered when choosing a sedan but it is no longer applicable," the company said. "With the development of engine technology, reducing engine displacement while increasing the power ratio has become a new trend in sedan models. And the new SM6 is highly rated for following the trend."

The SM6 sedan comes with two engine options ― the TCe 300 and the TCe 260. Renault Samsung said the TCe 300 engine is the best choice for drivers who want a powerful performance.

Renault Samsung said about a third of SM6 buyers choose the TCe 300 to experience a more dynamic driving performance. It produces 225 horsepower and has a maximum torque of 30.6 kilogram-meters. The engine is also used in Renault's high-performance vehicles such as the Alpine and the Renault R.S.

To improve engine performance and efficiency, the new SM6 comes with a seven-speed wet, dual-clutch transmission made by German vehicle component maker Getrag.

Renault Samsung said the new SM6 sedan also offers an enhanced level of comfort. To deliver a more comfortable driving experience, the company tested over 100 suspension components. As a result, it embedded a hydro bush on the real-wheel suspension to reduce vibration from the road surface to the body. The new SM6's front and rear dampers are also equipped with modular valve systems (MVS) to deliver a smoother ride.

To woo more drivers, Renault Samsung Motors has joined the 2020 Korea Sale FESTA, a nationwide sales event involving major retailers and manufacturers, and is offering an additional discount of up to 1 million won.

"The new SM6 is a partially changed model but we renewed the exterior and embedded a new engine in it," a Renault Samsung Motors official said. "If customers test drive the vehicle, they will be able to experience the powerful performance of the new model."
